
Truck driver killed after vehicle overturns on Corinth-Patras highway
A 52-year-old truck driver died after his vehicle overturned on the Corinth-Patras national road near Zevgolatio late Friday night.
The crash
A truck overturned on the Corinth-Patras national road (Olympia Odos) late Friday night, 3 July 2026. The vehicle was traveling toward Patras when the driver lost control near Zevgolatio, Corinthia. It struck protective barriers, broke through them, and left the roadway, ending up in an adjacent field where it overturned. Victim and rescue
The driver, a 52-year-old man from Xylokastro, was trapped in the cabin. Firefighters from the Kiato Fire Service used rescue tools to extricate him. He was unconscious when pulled from the wreckage. An EKAB ambulance transported him to Corinth General Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
Response and investigation
Traffic police from the Corinth highway patrol (PATHE), Olympia Odos vehicles, and an ambulance attended the scene. The circumstances that led to the loss of control remain unclear, and the authorities are investigating.
