Peacock orders Fast and Furious television series ahead of 2028 franchise finale
Streaming platform Peacock has greenlit a scripted series set in the Fast and Furious universe, with franchise star Vin Diesel executive producing alongside showrunners Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman.
Peacock orders first franchise series
Streaming service Peacock has officially greenlit a scripted television series based on the Fast and Furious franchise, marking the property's initial move into live-action television. Produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, the project moves forward as NBCUniversal celebrates the 25th anniversary of the original 2001 film. Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman will write the pilot episode, serve as co-showrunners, and act as executive producers. Daniels previously served as showrunner for Peacock's series PONIES and wrote for Sons of Anarchy, Shades of Blue, and NBC's upcoming reboot of The Rockford Files. Coleman worked as an executive producer on 9-1-1: Lone Star and previously collaborated with Daniels in the writers' room of Shades of Blue.

Executive leadership and project origins
Vin Diesel first revealed that television adaptations were in development during NBCUniversal's upfront presentation in New York in May 2026. Diesel will executive produce the newly approved series alongside One Race's Sam Vincent, Original Film's Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, as well as Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan. At the upfront presentation, Diesel explained that discussions about expanding into television had developed over a decade to answer audience interest in exploring legacy character backstories. He noted that his confidence in the project solidified after Universal Studios chief Donna Langley took oversight of NBCUniversal's television operations.
That's when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family will be protected in the TV space.
Commercial scale and release coordination
The television greenlight arrives as Universal prepares to conclude the primary cinematic storyline in 2028. The eleventh and final main film in the franchise, titled Fast Forever, is scheduled to debut in theaters on March 17, 2028. Peacock is targeting the series premiere for the same year to coincide with the movie rollout without diluting the brand. The film franchise originated on June 22, 2001, when Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious starring Diesel as Dominic Toretto, the late Paul Walker as Brian O'Conner, Jordana Brewster as Mia, and Michelle Rodriguez as Letty. That initial film earned $210 million worldwide against a $38 million budget, and the broader film series has generated more than $7 billion in total global box office revenue.

Spinoff pipeline and international distribution
While Peacock has only committed to a single series order for Daniels and Coleman, additional projects were pitched earlier in the year. During the May 2026 presentation, Diesel announced that Peacock was developing four separate shows set within the Fast and Furious universe. Among the additional writers tied to prospective concepts are Nick Wooton and Charmaine DeGraté, alongside projects pitched by Griselda showrunner Ingrid Escajeda and Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson. In the United States, the newly ordered series will stream exclusively on Peacock. European distribution arrangements remain unconfirmed, where SkyShowtime currently carries Peacock programming and impending corporate changes across platforms may influence international delivery before 2028.
