UEFA conducted the draw for the 2026–2027 Europa League and Conference League in Monaco, setting eight league-phase fixtures each for Juventus and AC Milan alongside Atalanta's Conference League matches.
Tournament format and draw ceremony in Monaco
The draw for the 2026–2027 UEFA Europa League and Conference League took place in Monaco on 28 August, determining fixtures for the expanded 36-team league phase. Both Juventus and AC Milan were placed in Pot 1 of the Europa League, earning a schedule of eight distinct opponents without traditional home-and-away round-robin pairings. Under the competition structure, all 36 clubs are ranked in a single league table throughout the initial phase. The top eight teams will qualify directly for the round of 16, while clubs placed from 9th to 24th enter a two-legged play-off round in February 2027. Teams ranked 25th through 36th will be eliminated from European competition for the remainder of the season.
Opponents for Juventus and AC Milan
Juventus will face eight teams from across Europe, including two Spanish clubs and one French side. The Turin club is scheduled to play Real Sociedad, Rennes, Omonia Nicosia, and NEC Nijmegen at home, while travelling for away fixtures against AZ Alkmaar, Ferencvaros, Celta Vigo, and Hapoel Beer Sheva. AC Milan drew two English Premier League sides and Portuguese club Benfica as part of their eight-match programme. Milan will host Benfica, Ferencvaros, Sunderland, and Ararat-Armenia at San Siro, while playing Olympiacos, Red Bull Salzburg, Bournemouth, and Levski Sofia in away matches.
Reactions from Juventus and AC Milan leadership
Juventus director Giorgio Chiellini evaluated the outcome of the draw and noted the broader European objectives for Italian football.
Both us and Milan have the responsibility to achieve a result that also allows us to compete for an extra spot in the Champions League. We are two teams that care, aware of the difficulties of the matches in the league as well.
Milan director Daniele Massaro spoke about the transition under manager Ruben Amorim and the standards set by former captain Franco Baresi.
Coach Amorim is explaining every day what Milan is and the team started well. In this group we know some teams, others less. We will have time to study them to face every match.
Atalanta Conference League path and schedule
Atalanta learned its six opponents for the UEFA Conference League single league phase after advancing through a play-off tie against Hapoel Tel Aviv in Miskolc. The Bergamo club will host Pafos, Kairat Almaty, and Mjallby, while facing Ajax, Borac, and Riga in away games. Atalanta general director Umberto Marino stressed that the club intends to approach every European fixture with full focus.
For Atalanta and for Bergamo it is a source of pride to be in Europe. We will try to honor the commitment, without underestimating anyone, because whoever is in the Conference League earned it on merit.
