
The Pitt leads 2026 Emmy nominations with 25 nods, Hacks sets comedy record
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were unveiled Wednesday, with HBO Max's medical drama 'The Pitt' earning a leading 25 nominations and 'Hacks' setting a comedy record with 24.

Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller revealed the nominees for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on Wednesday morning at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center. The announcement was live-streamed starting at 11:30 a.m. Eastern, with Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego hosting. Shows that aired most of their episodes between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026, were eligible.
Top contenders
HBO Max's 'The Pitt' led all series with 25 nominations. 'Hacks' earned 24 nominations, the most ever in a single year for a comedy. 'Widow's Bay' followed with 19, and 'Pluribus' received 18. In the limited series categories, Netflix's 'Beef' season two led with 16 nominations, with stars Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac and Charles Melton all recognized. The drama field includes 'The Diplomat', 'The Gilded Age', 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms', 'Paradise', 'Slow Horses' and 'Your Friends and Neighbors'. The comedy category includes 'Abbott Elementary', with 'Hacks' and 'Widow's Bay' also earning many nominations.

Ceremony details
The 78th Emmy Awards will take place on Monday, Sept. 14, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Mariska Hargitay will host the ceremony, which will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock at 8 p.m. Eastern. The Creative Arts Emmys, where the majority of trophies are presented, are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 6.

Last year's highlights
The 2025 Emmys saw Owen Cooper become the youngest acting Emmy winner ever for his performance in 'Adolescence', which won six awards.
