Eight injured, 16-year-old stabbed at Egling village festival; suspect at large
A 16-year-old suffered a severe knife wound and seven others were hurt when an unknown man attacked partygoers at a Burschenverein festival in Egling, Upper Bavaria, late Saturday. The suspect fled and remains at large.
What happened
The Blauliachd-Party, a regular public event hosted by the Burschenverein Egling, was in full swing on Saturday night with around 700 guests. At approximately 23:45, police were alerted to a violent incident. Witnesses said an unknown man suddenly punched a 24-year-old in the head. As the victim fell, he saw the attacker pull out a knife and slash his 16-year-old friend across the right forearm. The assault triggered a series of brawls, and more partygoers were injured in the ensuing chaos.
Injuries and emergency response
Eight people were hurt and transported to hospitals. The 16-year-old sustained a deep cut to his forearm and was listed as seriously injured. Other victims, aged between 16 and 20, suffered bone fractures and some underwent emergency surgery overnight, according to media reports. A massive response was mounted: 60 police officers, including a support commando from Munich, five ambulances, two emergency doctors, a rescue helicopter, and a police drone converged on the scene. The Egling volunteer fire brigade deployed 15 members to light up the area and manage traffic.

Chaotic scene and evacuation
When officers arrived, the festival grounds were in disarray. Police described the atmosphere as "heated and partly aggressive." The evacuation was carried out under controlled conditions, and several individuals were handcuffed or taken into custody. Many attendees could not be immediately questioned because they were still intoxicated from the previous night, a police spokesperson noted. Despite an extensive search, the suspect escaped and remains unidentified.

Simon Raß, chairman of the Burschenverein and the party's main organizer, spoke to the Münchner Merkur media group.
It has always been such a cozy festival. It is very sad that it ended like this.
He said the mood had been good throughout the evening. Police confirmed that the event series had no history of violence or comparable incidents.
Manhunt and investigation
The suspect is still at large. Investigators are reviewing video recordings from the party and have urged witnesses to submit any photos or clips. No description of the attacker has been made public. The police in Wolfratshausen are leading the inquiry.
