Swiss singer Beatrice Egli spoke openly about a family crisis during a Saturday broadcast of the ZDF music programme "Die Giovanni Zarrella Show". After performing her ballad "Wie stark du bist", the 38-year-old artist fought back tears, paused to breathe deeply, and wiped a tear from her face. When host Giovanni Zarrella, 48, asked about the background behind the song, Egli explained that the composition was dedicated to an immediate family member who had suffered a severe accident. Reporting from Bild identified the relative as her 61-year-old mother, Ida Egli-Keller.

Medical prognosis and recovery
The singer explained to the studio audience that the initial medical diagnosis following the accident was severe. Doctors had told the family that the patient would not recover her former mobility and might never be able to walk again. Egli described the period as emotionally trying for the entire family. In an earlier interview with SuperIllu, Egli had noted that a close relative had suffered a bicycle crash that nearly proved fatal, altering family life entirely and forcing a long process of regaining physical ability.
After an accident, they said that it was no longer possible to continue, that she would never walk like before, never walk again. That was a very intense time, especially when it concerns people you love so much.
The recovery process eventually exceeded medical expectations. Egli told Zarrella that her mother had defied the prognosis, returned to walking, and resumed mountain hiking. Egli added that the song is meant to offer comfort and strength to listeners who face sudden personal hardship and need mutual encouragement.
