Gardaí launched a day of action across the Dublin region on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, targeting the illegal use of personal powered transporters (PPTs) such as e-scooters, e-bikes, Surron-type bikes and scramblers. Eighty properties were searched under warrant, 122 PPTs were seized, and 12 people were detained in relation to separate criminal incidents.
Officers also seized four stolen motorcycles, more than €95,000 worth of cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis, five cannabis plants and €16,885 in cash. Summonses and fixed charge penalty notices were issued during the operation. Jonathan Roberts, Garda assistant commissioner for the Dublin area, said in a statement that the enforcement used pro-active patrols, static traffic checkpoints and intelligence-led operations, and that the operation remains ongoing.
