Italian partner questioned after mother and son found dead in Aigio home
A 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son were found dead with multiple stab wounds in their home in Longos, Aigio. The woman's 65-year-old Italian partner is being held as the main suspect.
The discovery
A 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son were found dead in their home in Longos, Aigio, on Tuesday afternoon (9 June 2026). The son's body was on his bed, bearing a head wound from an air gun and multiple stab wounds. The mother was found near the bedroom entrance with stab wounds and defensive injuries on her hands, suggesting she fought her attacker.
He is being held, because weaponry was found inside the house anyway. An air gun was found, for which he will be arrested. But there must also be other evidence.
The suspect
Police are focusing on the 54-year-old's 65-year-old Italian partner, who was in the house at the time. He claims he woke up and found the two dead, then alerted a neighbour who called the authorities at noon. The medical examiner estimated the time of death at around 6–7 a.m., meaning the suspect was in the house for several hours before raising the alarm.
Officers found a recently washed shirt belonging to the 65-year-old with a stain that may be blood, now undergoing forensic analysis. The man also had scratches on his hands. He has reportedly given contradictory statements and is said to have been under the influence of alcohol during questioning.
The weapon
During a search of the property, police discovered an air gun and a knife hidden in a flowerpot in the courtyard. Both items have been seized and sent to forensic laboratories. Kitchen knives were also taken, though they appeared clean. One knife found stuck in a flowerpot outside reportedly had no visible blood traces.
The victims
According to a close friend and collaborator of the 26-year-old, the son had been in Berlin building a career in techno music and had returned to Greece temporarily to support his mother, who was under severe psychological strain following health problems and surgeries.
Think that until 3:13 at night I was talking to him. He was at home playing music. At 3:13 was the last message I got on WhatsApp. We were talking about our work, about the record label and some plans we were preparing. Nothing indicated that something was wrong.
The friend stated the son had never mentioned any tension with his stepfather and that the family had been together a month earlier for his graduation. The son planned to return to Berlin soon.
The investigation
Police are awaiting the full forensic report to establish the exact time of death and gather more evidence. They are taking statements from relatives and friends to determine a motive. The 65-year-old has not been formally arrested for the murders but is being held on weapons charges after the air gun was found in the house. He continues to deny any involvement.
