Sejm Marshal Czarzasty demands ambassador appointments from President Nawrocki
Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty presented a list of demands to President Karol Nawrocki on Friday, urging immediate diplomatic postings, judicial appointments, and a firm stance at the upcoming G20 summit.
Diplomatic vacancies
Sejm Marshal and Nowa Lewica leader Włodzimierz Czarzasty addressed President Karol Nawrocki during a press conference on Friday, calling for the immediate resolution of long-standing diplomatic vacancies. Czarzasty stated that Poland currently lacks appointed ambassadors in key partner nations, including Italy, India, Ukraine, the United States, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. He argued that leaving these essential missions without confirmed leadership damages Poland's international standing. The issue is especially pressing because Warsaw is scheduled to host a Weimar Triangle summit next Friday, on 9 October 2026. Czarzasty pointed out that entering talks with French and German partners without a settled ambassadorial corps weakens the country's diplomatic position.
I expect the president to appoint ambassadors. We have unappointed ambassadors in Italy, India, Ukraine, the United States, Germany, France, and Great Britain, among others. This makes a mockery of Poland, especially since next week on Friday the Weimar Triangle is taking place in Warsaw.

Judicial and administrative appointments
Beyond foreign representation, Czarzasty presented a catalog of domestic appointments that remain stalled on the president's desk. He called on Nawrocki to accept the formal oath of office from Constitutional Tribunal member Maciej Berek. The Sejm Marshal also demanded the immediate appointment of a new head for the State Protection Service (SOP). Furthermore, Czarzasty urged the president to finalize the nominations of 46 district court judges whose appointments have been delayed. He stated that the political strategy of not stepping back before Nawrocki is proving sensible, arguing that declining public approval ratings are influencing the president's behavior.
Stance on international summits
Czarzasty outlined strict expectations for Nawrocki's conduct at the upcoming G20 summit. He demanded an unequivocally negative posture toward Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom Czarzasty characterized as a criminal and murderer. Addressing relations with United States President Donald Trump, Czarzasty urged Nawrocki to pursue pragmatic effectiveness rather than idolatry. He warned the president that political tactics derived from street brawls, which favor being strong against the weak and weak against the strong, cannot guide foreign policy. The Sejm Marshal added that the president exhibits confusion and ineffective behavior in serious situations.
I expect effectiveness from the president in relations with President Donald Trump at the G20, not idolatry. Mr. President, the rule from arranged hooligan fights - 'strong against the weak, weak against the strong' - does not work in this case.
Critique of the presidential address
The Friday press conference followed a televised presidential address delivered by Nawrocki on Thursday, 1 October 2026. In that address, Nawrocki announced his signature on the windfall profits tax bill and demanded immediate fuel price reductions at petrol stations from the government. The president also announced that he would refer the legislation to the Constitutional Tribunal under post-enactment control. Czarzasty criticized the move, asserting that Nawrocki signed the bill after a two-month delay solely due to public pressure and fear of voter reaction. He questioned using a formal presidential address to announce the enactment of routine legislation, describing the move as an anomaly in Polish politics.
