Craiova exits Champions League, faces Finnish champion KuPS in Europa League third round
Universitatea Craiova drew 2-2 with Levski Sofia, a result that eliminated them from the Champions League and sent them into the Europa League third qualifying round against Finnish title holders KuPS.
Universitatea Craiova's Champions League campaign ended with a 2-2 draw at home to Levski Sofia, a scoreline that was not enough to keep Filipe Coelho's side in the competition. The Romanian club now drop into the Europa League and enter the third qualifying round, where they will face KuPS, the reigning champions of Finland.
KuPS currently lead the Finnish domestic league with five wins from their last five matches, but suffered a surprise exit from the Champions League themselves, eliminated by Sabah Baku of Azerbaijan. The winner of the Craiova–KuPS tie will guarantee a place in the Conference League main phase. To reach the Europa League group stage, an additional playoff victory is required.
