The deal

Clever Media Network announced on Monday, 26 October 2026, that it had signed a share purchase agreement for 100% of Doğan Media International S.A., the company that owns the Kanal D and Kanal D2 television channels, Radio Impuls and a digital division. The buyer is Romanian Content Project SRL, a vehicle owned by Clever Media Network SRL and EAD.RO Interactive SRL. The sellers are Doğan Media Invest BV and DHI Investment. Orlando Nicoară, director of Clever EAD, announced the signing in a Facebook post.

“The Clever Media Group announces the signing of the agreement to take over Doğan Media International in full, in one of the most important transactions on the Romanian media market.”

Buyer and portfolio

Clever Media is controlled by businessman Adrian Tomșa, according to Ziare.com. The group operates 18 television channels, including Prima TV, Prima News, five Prima Sport channels, Prima 4K, Cinemaraton, Agro TV and Medika TV, along with digital platforms such as Profit.ro, Cotidianul.ro, Life.ro and PrimaSport.ro. The acquisition adds Kanal D, Kanal D2, Radio Impuls and the digital operations of Doğan Media International to that portfolio.

The announcement says Kanal D holds first place nationally in the Daytime slot and second in Prime Time. Kanal D is the third most-watched television channel in Romania, behind Pro TV and Antena 1. The Doğan Media group reported revenue of over 57 million euro and a profit of 11 million euro in 2025.

Earlier reporting and price

Mediafax reported exclusively on 17 June 2026 that Clever Media had reached an agreement to buy Kanal D România. Sources cited by Mediafax said negotiations were under way in June and that the value was estimated at about 100 million euro, to be paid in several tranches. At that time Nicoară said he did not comment on rumours, while adding that the group was analysing media market opportunities. The Monday announcement confirms the agreement, but the value has not been officially communicated.

Approvals and continuity

The transaction is not yet complete. It depends on approvals from the Competition Council and the National Audiovisual Council (CNA), along with the fulfilment of conditions set out in the contract. In the message to employees, Doğan Media International's management estimated that the process would take a few months.

“We estimate that this process will take a few months.”

Doğan Media International

Until the deal closes, Doğan Media International will keep its current structure, and management says operations, teams and brands will continue without interruption. The internal message reached Kanal D staff from Doğan Media CEO Uğur Yeşil, and its first part focused on the autumn season programming before turning to the sale.
