Police chase from Megara ends in collision with school bus in Keratsini, two riders arrested

A motorcycle without license plates led police on a chase from Megara to Keratsini on Monday afternoon, colliding with a school bus carrying children. The two riders were slightly injured and arrested.

The chase

Police officers from the DIAS team spotted a motorcycle without license plates in the Megara area shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, 22 June 2026. They signalled the driver to stop for a check, but the driver ignored the order and accelerated, attempting to flee via the Athens–Corinth national road.

The pursuit continued along the New Athens–Corinth National Road and Schistou Avenue before the motorcycle entered Keratsini. The chase ended on Salamina Avenue in the centre of Keratsini, where the motorcycle collided with a school bus.

Collision and injuries

The collision occurred at the junction of Salamina Avenue and Angelou Sikelianou Street. The motorcycle overturned and slid along the road. The 25-year-old male driver and his 22-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries. No children or other occupants of the school bus were hurt.

The two injured riders were taken by ambulance to Tzaneio Hospital for first aid. Video footage from the scene shows the motorcycle lying in the middle of the road and DIAS officers arriving on foot to detain the riders.

Arrests and investigation

After receiving medical treatment, both riders were arrested. They face charges for violations of the Traffic Code and for disobedience. The exact circumstances of the incident are under investigation by the Hellenic Police.
