Eugenio Chacarra wins Italian Open by five strokes, claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles and a debut at The Open
Spain's Eugenio Chacarra fired a final-round 64 at Circolo Golf Torino to secure a five-shot victory and a place at Royal Birkdale next month.
Final round mastery
Eugenio Chacarra converted a 54-hole lead into a commanding five-stroke win at the DS Automobiles 83rd Open d'Italia. The 26-year-old Spaniard signed for a closing seven-under 64, mixing five birdies with an eagle, to finish at 24 under par. Matt Wallace posted a 67 to claim second on 19 under, while Joaquin Niemann ended six shots adrift in third after weekend rounds of 71 and 68. Chacarra took control early with a birdie at the first and never relinquished it, pulling away with three straight birdies from the 8th and a decisive eagle at the 15th.

Back-to-back surge
This victory comes three weeks after Chacarra triumphed at the KLM Open in the Netherlands, marking his third DP World Tour title in 18 months. He has now won on every circuit he has played: LIV Golf, the Asian Tour, and the European tour. The Madrid native has recorded 20 consecutive rounds under par and sits third in the Race to Dubai standings, behind only Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy.
I'm feeling great, winning's always fun, but that's what we work for. I'm very proud of myself.
Open debut secured
With the Italian Open trophy comes a spot in The Open at Royal Birkdale, scheduled for 16–19 July. Chacarra had never qualified before and spoke of how he grew up watching the championship on television. His entry adds to a banner summer where he chases a PGA Tour card for 2027.
I've never played there, I've always dreamed of playing it and been watching on TV since I was little. Excited to be out there, now it's time to celebrate and then we can focus on that.
PGA Tour within reach
The top 10 on the DP World Tour's end-of-season rankings earn cards for the U.S. circuit. Chacarra's Italian win propels him to third and puts him firmly in contention. After a stint with LIV Golf in 2022, a mental health break earlier this year, and a return to the European path, the former world amateur number two is now delivering the consistency he long promised. His fifth professional victory repositions him as one of the tour's hottest players heading into the summer.
