Dressing room dispute resolved

Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning Champions League holders, were assigned the away dressing room at Red Bull Arena in Salzburg for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup against Europa League winners Aston Villa. Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, were given Red Bull Salzburg's larger home dressing room. At a pre-game meeting on Monday, PSG officials told UEFA they were unhappy with the arrangement, considering their assigned space too small. Sources told BBC Sport the French club wanted the same size facilities as Villa, noting they are the reigning Super Cup champions after beating Tottenham Hotspur on penalties last year.

UEFA resolved the issue by allocating PSG a spare dressing room normally used by match officials, giving them additional space comparable to Villa's. No officials were moved to accommodate Luis Enrique's side.

PSG's squad and journey to Salzburg

PSG travelled to Austria with a squad of 20 players, including Vitinha, Bradley Barcola, and Lucas Digne, who joined PSG from Aston Villa on Sunday. Digne's move adds a subplot to the match, as he could face his former club days after switching sides. Luis Enrique's team qualified for the Super Cup by defeating Arsenal in the Champions League final in May.

Aston Villa's first Super Cup since 1982

Aston Villa are appearing in the European Super Cup for the first time since 1982, when Tony Barton's side beat Barcelona 3-0 at Villa Park in a match played in January 1983. Villa secured their place this year by winning the Europa League final against Freiburg in May, described as their first European silverware in 44 years.

Villa's squad in flux

Villa arrive in Salzburg with significant changes to the squad that won in Istanbul. Youri Tielemans, who scored the opener against Freiburg, has left for Manchester United after his £35m release clause was triggered. Villa's financial juggling continues off the pitch. The club were fined €22.5m by UEFA for breaching squad cost control rules, with two-thirds of the fine suspended. Rogers' £117m sale should help address their fiscal concerns. Villa could win two European honours within a year despite the upheaval.
