Second San Fermín bull run: Cebada Gago herd races in 2:20, avoiding major injuries despite dangerous reputation
The feared Cebada Gago bulls completed the second Pamplona encierro in 2 minutes 20 seconds, with the herd staying compact and avoiding gorings despite a history of injuries.
Fastest in decades
The run clocked in at 2 minutes 20 seconds, one of the fastest for this ganadería, whose average duration exceeds 3 minutes 30 seconds. The herd stayed tightly packed, guided by the steers, allowing runners to keep pace without the bulls breaking out. A runner fell at the Mercaderes curve, and another was violently knocked down near Telefónica, but no gorings were reported.
A history of danger
Cebada Gago, from Medina Sidonia, has a 35‑year history in San Fermín, with a record of 22 runs out of 34 previous editions with at least one goring. The herd has caused between 60 and 63 horn injuries over that span, averaging 1.76 per run. Last year's run lasted 5:22, with one bull named "Caminante" lagging on Estafeta street, resulting in two gorings and six hospitalizations.
