Bus crashes into building in central Lleida, leaving at least 15 injured
A passenger bus collided with a building facade in central Lleida on Wednesday morning, injuring at least 15 people. Four are in very serious condition.
Accident details
At around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, a city bus traveling from Lleida to Granja d'Escarp veered off the road and struck the facade of number 11 Rambla Ferran, a central street in Lleida. The bus had just departed from the Lleida bus station. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Emergency response
The emergency call was received at 7:16 a.m. via 112. The Generalitat fire brigade dispatched 11 units to the scene. Medical emergency services (SEM) treated the injured and evacuated the most serious cases. The Catalan civil protection agency activated the PROCICAT plan at the alert level.
Casualties
At least 15 people were injured, according to civil protection. Four of the injured are in very serious condition, six are serious. An additional 25 passengers were able to leave the bus on their own. Authorities have not yet provided details on the identities of those involved.
Investigation
The cause of the accident is under investigation, with no further information expected until later in the day.
