Das Ich keyboardist Bruno Kramm dies after Granada concert in southern Spain

Medical emergency at Planta Baja

German musician Bruno Kramm, the keyboardist and co-founder of the darkwave and industrial project Das Ich, died following a live concert in Granada during the early hours of 26 September 2026. The performance was hosted at the Planta Baja concert hall, a well-known music venue situated in the central district of the Andalusian city. Eyewitnesses reported that Kramm had been on stage just minutes before complaining of severe respiratory difficulties and subsequently losing consciousness. Callers to emergency dispatchers reported that an artist had collapsed and was completely unresponsive inside the premises. German news reports stated that Kramm collapsed in the dressing room area late on Friday evening, 25 September, while Spanish emergency logs registered his age as 50 compared to German media reports citing 58.

Mobilisation of emergency services and autopsy

The Andalusia 112 emergency coordination centre logged several incoming calls around midnight reporting that a performer had collapsed inside the Planta Baja hall and could not be revived by witnesses. The emergency dispatch service alerted three separate response teams, deploying the Local Police, the Spanish National Police, and medical personnel from the 061 emergency healthcare system to the scene. Resuscitation attempts by arriving paramedics were unsuccessful, and the 061 medical crew confirmed the musician's death on site shortly after their arrival. Spanish authorities stated that preliminary evidence points toward a natural cause of death, and the National Police did not initiate a criminal inquiry into the incident. Judicial authorities ordered an autopsy to ascertain the exact circumstances of the fatal collapse, while preparations began to repatriate Kramm's remains to Germany for burial.

Southern Spain debut and promoter reaction

The concert in Granada marked the first live performance that Das Ich had ever held in southern Spain. Advance promotional materials distributed by the event organiser had emphasized the duo's intense visual staging, expressive theatrical presence, and direct connection with alternative music audiences. Following the fatal incident, the Spanish event organiser Distortiongirl Eventos confirmed the death through a public announcement on Instagram.

Devastated and with a heavy heart, I must share that Bruno Kramm, member of the band Das Ich, passed away after his concert in Granada. Unfortunately, there was nothing more we could do for him.

Kramm is survived by his wife and two children.

Foundation of Das Ich and musical career

Kramm established the music project Das Ich in 1989 together with vocalist Stefan Ackermann. The duo developed a distinct musical profile characterized by dark electronic sounds, theatrical atmospheres, and industrial elements, making them foundational pioneers in the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst movement that emerged in Germany between the late 1980s and the 1990s. Their recorded output, which included well-known tracks such as "Gottes Tod", earned substantial international recognition across the European gothic and alternative music scene. Outside his ongoing recording and touring commitments as a keyboardist and producer, Kramm also engaged in domestic political activities in Germany over the course of his career.
