Bruce Willis makes rare appearance at daughter Tallulah's wedding in Idaho
The 71-year-old actor, diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023, joined family in Idaho as his youngest daughter Tallulah married musician Justin Acee on August 8.
A rare public appearance
Bruce Willis, 71, attended the wedding of his youngest daughter Tallulah Willis to musician Justin Acee on August 8 at the family estate in Hailey, Idaho. The ceremony, described by N-tv as a private celebration on the Sun Valley property, brought together three generations of the Willis family. Vogue published exclusive photographs from the event on Instagram on August 15, including a black-and-white image showing Willis smiling between his daughter and her new husband, one arm around Tallulah and the other hand clasping Acee's.
Tallulah, 32, captioned one of the images:
The bride is the youngest of Willis's three daughters with his former wife Demi Moore, 63. Her elder sisters Rumer, 37, and Scout, 35, served as bridesmaids, and Moore shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of the wedding preparations on social media, including footage from the bridal dress fitting.A tender moment with my dad and Justin at the start of wedding weekend.
I am so grateful that we got to experience this special moment together as a family.
Willis's health and withdrawal from public life
Willis has largely stayed out of public view since his family announced an aphasia diagnosis in 2022. In February 2023, they disclosed that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive neurodegenerative condition. His wife, Emma Heming Willis, said in January that the actor "doesn't know" he has the disease, explaining that one of the neurological symptoms includes anosognosia, which prevents a person from accurately recognizing their own illness.

Last year, Heming Willis moved her husband out of the family home into a one-story residence with a full-time care team as his condition worsened. "Bruce would want that for our daughters," she said in August. "He would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs." Heming Willis, who married the actor in 2009 and is mother to their daughters Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12, has spoken openly about the emotional toll of caregiving.
The wedding details
The choice of the family estate as the venue held particular significance for Tallulah. "That's where I learned to be free and to become the dreamer I am today," she told Vogue. She also said that Justin had developed a close connection to the property, with the couple having spent so much time there that it no longer held emotional meaning only for her.
For the ceremony, Tallulah wore a custom dress by Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Balenciaga. She worked on her wedding look with Brad Goreski, Demi Moore's longtime stylist. Additional Vogue photographs showed Tallulah in her gown standing in a field, accompanied by her mother and sisters. Acee, who makes music under the artist name Nighties, has built a close bond with the family property alongside Tallulah.
Emma Heming Willis's reflections
Earlier in August, Heming Willis spoke about her hesitation over marking her 50th birthday in June, saying she had "not really been in the celebratory feelings of late" because of her husband's condition. She told Hoda Kotb on the Making Space podcast that a friend had encouraged her not to skip the milestone.
I always go back to: what would my husband want for me? And he would want me to have a big, fun bash. He would want me to celebrate my life with my friends and family.
She added that she "always wrestles" with guilt but has learned it is "really not helpful."
