Bode Miller arrested in Idaho over psilocybin mushrooms, pleads not guilty before July court date
The six-time Olympic medalist was pulled over for speeding on June 6 and found with 4.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, authorities say. He denies the charges, claiming the drugs belonged to a friend.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
On June 6, Bode Miller, 48, was stopped by a Fremont County sheriff's deputy for speeding on an Idaho highway. During the stop, the deputy found a white bag containing 4.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, according to court documents cited by multiple news outlets. Miller was taken into custody and booked on one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bail and not-guilty plea
Miller was released after posting $5,000 cash bail (approximately €4,300–€4,400) and entered a plea of not guilty on both charges, reportedly four days after his arrest. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 29. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine under Idaho's strict drug laws.

Miller's version: friend's cannabis
In a statement on Instagram, Miller said he was pulled over for speeding while passing another vehicle.
He added that he cooperated fully with the officer and hopes the misdemeanor charges will be dropped once the facts are reviewed. My friend, who was traveling with me, had a small amount of cannabis and a pipe for smoking it, something I was unaware of.
Family tragedy and timing
The arrest came just days before the eighth anniversary of the drowning death of his daughter Emeline, who died at 19 months in a pool accident in 2018. Miller's wife, Morgan Miller, posted two Instagram stories on June 10, four days after the arrest, reminding parents about water safety and sharing images of Emmy in the hospital.
