Harry Kane and Vincent Kompany lead Bayern Munich sweep in German football awards
Harry Kane won men's Player of the Year, Vincent Kompany claimed Coach of the Year, and Giulia Gwinn took women's honours in the annual poll of German sports journalists.
Munich sweep in German football awards
Bayern Munich secured all three individual categories in the annual voting organized by Kicker magazine and the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS). England forward Harry Kane was elected men's Footballer of the Year, Vincent Kompany was named Coach of the Year, and defender Giulia Gwinn won women's Player of the Year. The result marked the first time that the men's and women's player awards went to members of the same club in the same year.
It was the best season of my career so far.
Kane leads men's voting after prolific season
In the men's category, Kane gathered 272 votes from participating sports journalists, finishing ahead of Bayern teammate Michael Olise, who received 203 votes to take second place for the second consecutive year. Stuttgart and Germany forward Deniz Undav finished third with 61 votes, Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich placed fourth with 21 votes, and Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann received 14 votes. Three ballots were recorded as invalid. Kane succeeded Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, who won the award the previous year. The player award has been presented annually since 1960, with Franz Beckenbauer holding the record of four career wins. Kane became the first English player to win the accolade.

Domestic trophies and European Golden Shoe
Kane scored 61 goals in 51 competitive appearances across all competitions for Bayern Munich during the 2025–2026 season. His performances helped Bayern defend the Bundesliga title and win the German Cup, where he scored a hat trick in the final. The forward also secured the European Golden Shoe for the second time in his career as the leading league goalscorer on the continent. In European competition, Bayern reached the semifinals of the Champions League before being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain.
You never stopped working on yourself. You just got better and better and better.
Kompany and Gwinn win coaching and women's honours
In the coaching vote, Vincent Kompany earned 314 votes after guiding Bayern to a domestic league and cup double in his second season in charge. Freiburg coach Julian Schuster, who won the award the previous year, finished second with 87 votes, and Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß was third with 53 votes. International campaign and new season start
The voting concluded after Kane captained England at the World Cup, scoring six goals during the national team's run to the semifinals. Those goals increased his total World Cup tally to 14, making him England's all-time top scorer at the tournament. On Saturday, Bayern opened the new season with a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund to win the German Supercup. Kane played in the match, following which he noted the team's pursuit of further trophies in the new campaign.
The first Englishman ever, the first Bayern player again in five years, another milestone in an outstanding career.
