FC Barcelona Femení signs American goalkeeper Tyler McCamey on two-year deal until 2028

FC Barcelona Femení announced the signing of American goalkeeper Tyler McCamey on Saturday, adding the 24-year-old to its goalkeeping unit on a two-season contract that runs until 2028. The move was unexpected; local reports noted that the position was not among the club's most urgent priorities, yet the club moved quickly to secure the free agent.

A late-blooming professional path

McCamey spent four years at Princeton University before beginning her professional career with Gotham in 2025. She did not appear in any minutes there or during a subsequent stint at Kansas City Current, where she held a secondary role. Her break came in January 2026, when she debuted in the NWSL with Dallas Trinity and went on to play 16 league matches. When the US season ended, McCamey became a free agent in May, opening the door for the move to Barcelona.

Goalkeeping reinforcements and departures

She joins Cata Coll and Gemma Font in the goalkeeper group after Meritxell Font left for Badalona. The club described the signing as a reinforcement for the position, with McCamey expected to compete for minutes alongside the two incumbent keepers.

In the coming days, the official contract signing ceremony will take place at the FC Barcelona offices with the presence of club president Joan Laporta and the director responsible for women's football, Xavier Puig.

Second summer signing amid squad renewals

McCamey is the second addition of the close season, following Dutch defender Renee van Asten. The club also renewed central defender Marta Torrejón and forward Caroline Graham Hansen, and gave a first-team contract to academy graduate Carla Julià.
