Claudio Baglioni returns to Piazza di Siena with seven Rome concerts from 24 October
Claudio Baglioni resumes live performances after a health-related break with seven shows at Piazza di Siena in Villa Borghese, running from 24 October to 1 November. The site matches his 1982 Alé-oò concert, and his GrandTour La Vita è adesso has been postponed to summer 2027.
A return after illness
Claudio Baglioni will return to the stage in Rome after a forced break caused by health problems. AGI describes the illness as acute interstitial pneumonia, and sources differ on when it struck: Tgcom24 dates it three and a half months before the press conference, while Fanpage places it in the summer. The illness forced the postponement of the GrandTour La Vita è adesso, now due to start in summer 2027. At the Campidoglio presentation, Baglioni said he had feared he would never perform again.
When I was unwell, a few months ago, I feared I would never be able to return to a stage, and I was upset because I wanted to decide myself when to end the tour, not leave it to fate.
Seven nights at Piazza di Siena
The run is titled Che notte è questa, with the opening leg called La partenza, and takes place at Piazza di Siena in Villa Borghese on 24, 25, 27, 28, 30 and 31 October and 1 November. Baglioni will be accompanied by 20 musicians and will perform 40 songs arranged for the occasion. AGI and Adnkronos say the set covers almost 60 years of career, while ANSA refers to a career of more than 50 years. The dates were presented at the Campidoglio alongside mayor Roberto Gualtieri and councillor Alessandro Onorato. Tgcom24 reports that the dates were announced just two months ago, by surprise.
Asked about a return to Sanremo as artistic director, Baglioni joked that he would prefer to be mayor of Rome for a day. AGI also reports that he has a tour in Europe on the same days as the Sanremo festival.
Echoes of 1982
The opening date carries personal weight for Baglioni. On 24 October 1982, the same square hosted Alé-oò, which ANSA describes as the first large live music gathering in Italy, drawing 250,000 people. Baglioni described that night as a turning point, arriving ten years after his first hits. He links it to a personal change that followed.
It was no coincidence that a few days later I cut my hair, which marked the end of an era.
Final concert in 2027
The residency opens a longer route. The GrandTour La Vita è adesso is planned as 50 concerts in 80 days across Italian cities, archaeological sites and landscapes, beginning in summer 2027. The tour ends on 23 October 2027 at the Fori Imperiali with the show Che notte è questa Il ritorno. Baglioni said the Fori concert will close a circle and may not be his last live show, but it will certainly be the last of a certain kind.
It will not be the last concert ever, but the last of a series.
