Madrid President Isabel Díaz Ayuso to Publish First Memoir Íntimo on 2 December
Editorial Planeta will release Isabel Díaz Ayuso's first book, titled Íntimo, on 2 December 2026, documenting the Madrid regional president's personal life and political career.
Publication announcement and scope
On 7 October 2026, Editorial Planeta announced the upcoming release of the first book by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. Titled Íntimo, the memoir will officially arrive in bookstores on 2 December 2026. The volume incorporates photographs and spans the politician's life from her childhood to her current role leading the regional administration. According to the publishing house, the text will present an account of the experiences, anecdotes, and individuals that shaped her political outlook and core principles.
Personal reflections and writing process
The memoir combines public milestones with private experiences, including Ayuso's youth, academic background, and personal interests such as music, sports, and gastronomy. It also addresses painful episodes, including a miscarriage that she suffered. Ayuso composed the manuscript during July and August 2026 during a residential move and visits to family locations. In an excerpt released by the publisher, she reflected on the writing environment and the places that shaped her background.
In these months of July and August I have reviewed my entire life. Moving and returning to the most significant settings of my life helped me: my grandmother's neighbourhood, the western Madrid mountains, my valley and the mountains of my village. Places that, while I was writing, I watched being lost, destroyed by fire.
Political background and milestones
Ayuso earned a degree in journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid before working in media and political communication offices. She entered the regional assembly as a deputy in 2011 and later held the post of vice-councillor of presidency and justice. In August 2019, she secured the regional presidency through an agreement with Ciudadanos and voting support from Vox. She subsequently won the 2021 snap regional election, secured an absolute majority in the 2023 regional vote, and assumed leadership of the Madrid branch of the People's Party in May 2022. The book will recount her management during the COVID-19 pandemic, her anti-nationalist positions, and political campaigns such as her "Communism or freedom" slogan.

Media reaction and political context
The announcement prompted immediate reactions across Spanish television and satire programmes. On La 1, comedian Manu Sánchez used the book's typography and visual design to promote his late-night show El perro andaluz. Satirical coverage on LaSexta featured Cristina Gallego and Dani Mateo presenting a parody draft referencing regional political controversies. The publication follows an April 2026 biographical work titled Ayuso: Zancadillas, intrigas y venganzas en la Corte de Madrid by journalist David Fernández, who interviewed more than 180 figures connected to her career. With the release of Íntimo, Ayuso will join a roster of Spanish political figures who have authored memoirs, including former prime ministers Pedro Sánchez, Mariano Rajoy, and José María Aznar.
