Deportivo La Coruña signs 37-year-old Aubameyang from Marseille for €1.5 million
The 37-year-old Gabonese striker joins the newly promoted LaLiga side on a contract until June 2028, after one season at Olympique Marseille.
The signing
Deportivo La Coruña, newly promoted to LaLiga after an eight-year absence, confirmed the signing of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Olympique Marseille on Friday, 17 July 2026. The 37-year-old has agreed a contract until June 2028, with the French club receiving a transfer fee of €1.5 million, according to Spanish newspaper AS. Aubameyang expressed a strong desire to join the Galician side, which proved decisive in Marseille accepting Deportivo's offer over other financially more attractive proposals. Club president Juan Carlos Escotet played a key role in convincing the forward, who had requested extensive information about the club's project. The announcement video, posted on social media, featured music from Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises", a nod to Aubameyang's trademark masked goal celebrations.
RC Deportivo signs Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who becomes a new blanquiazul player after signing until June 2028.

Aubameyang arrives with a prolific scoring record across Europe's top leagues. His most productive spell came at Borussia Dortmund between 2013 and 2018, where he scored 141 goals in 213 appearances. He later netted 92 times in 163 matches for Arsenal, and during a short stint at Barcelona in the 2021-22 season he added 13 goals in 24 games as a winter reinforcement. Last season at Marseille, he managed 10 goals and 6 assists in 30 Ligue 1 outings, and 14 goals across all competitions. Earlier in his career, he played for Dijon, Lille, Monaco and Saint-Étienne, and also had spells at Chelsea and Saudi Arabia's Al-Qadisiyah. His first season at Marseille, in 2023-24, yielded 30 goals and 11 assists in 51 matches. With over 250 official goals for club and country, and 41 goals in 86 caps for Gabon, he is one of the most decorated African forwards of the past two decades.
