
Wildfire breaks out near homes in Pallini and Spata, east of Athens, as 112 alert urges standby
A forest fire broke out near Leoforos Spaton in the Pallini-Spata area east of Athens around midday on 4 July, with flames approaching residential areas. Authorities dispatched 47 firefighters, 20 vehicles, and two aircraft, while the 112 emergency system told residents to remain on standby.
Fire outbreak
A forest fire ignited around 12:20 on 4 July 2026 in a wooded area near Leoforos Spaton, close to the Nasioutzik estate in Pallini, Attica. The flames spread quickly, approaching residential zones in both Pallini and the neighbouring municipality of Spata. No injuries have been reported so far.
Emergency response
The Hellenic Fire Service mobilised 47 firefighters with two ground teams, 20 vehicles, and two water-dropping aircraft. Municipal water tankers are also assisting the operation. Fire crews are working to contain the blaze and prevent it from reaching houses.
Alert to residents
The 112 emergency alert system sent a message to residents of the affected area, instructing them to remain on standby and follow official guidance.
