Athens taxi driver arrested after extorting 600 euros from Israeli tourists

Airport transfer extortion

Digital analysis and suspect identification

Shortly after the incident outside the hotel, the victims proceeded to the Syntagma Crime Prosecution and Investigation Department to report the criminal act. Specialized police officers at the precinct initiated a thorough preliminary inquiry to reconstruct the route and identify the driver. Investigators conducted an extensive analysis of digital data and surveillance records collected along the route from the airport to central Athens. Through this digital data examination, detectives successfully identified the specific taxi vehicle and confirmed the identity of the 38-year-old driver. Judicial warrant and arrest
