Greek police identify two motorcyclists after viral stunt videos on Athens avenues
Greek traffic police identified two motorcyclists, aged 25 and 35, who filmed themselves performing high-speed wheelies and crossing double white lines across central Athens thoroughfares before posting the footage online.
Digital investigation and identification
Traffic police officers in Attica identified two motorcyclists, aged 25 and 35, following an investigation into stunt driving videos published across social media networks. The inquiry was initiated by the Special Information Analysis and Social Media Team of the Groups for the Control and Prevention of Traffic Accidents (OEPTA). Investigators routinely monitor online platforms to detect unlawful driving behavior that is recorded and distributed for public view.
By examining the uploaded video material, officers analyzed the visual evidence, road landmarks, and account details to establish the identities of both drivers. The individuals were determined to be a 25-year-old Greek national and a 35-year-old foreign national of Albanian origin. The police department confirmed that the two men had utilized high-displacement motorcycles to carry out coordinated driving demonstrations.
The Hellenic Police detailed the operation in an official statement regarding the social media investigation.
Officers of the Special Information Analysis and Social Media Team of OEPTA identified two motorcycle drivers who appeared in videos posted on a popular social media platform driving high-displacement motorcycles at breakneck speed and performing skill demonstrations.
Maneuvers on central Athens thoroughfares
The video recordings documented the riders executing high-speed maneuvers on several of the busiest traffic arteries across the Attica basin. Identified locations included Kifisias Avenue, Vouliagmenis Avenue, and Athinon Avenue, alongside multiple connected municipal roads. The footage captured the motorcyclists accelerating to extreme velocities while performing wheelies and weaving between passenger cars.
Several recorded sequences occurred during daytime peak traffic hours when vehicular congestion was substantial. In addition to riding on one wheel, both drivers repeatedly crossed solid double dividing lines into opposing lanes to bypass traffic flow. Authorities stated that these actions posed direct safety hazards to other motorists, passengers, and pedestrians sharing the roadway.
Criminal charges and motorcycle seizure
Following the formal identification, the Athens Traffic Sub-Directorate assembled a criminal case file naming both the 25-year-old and the 35-year-old as defendants. The charges filed against the pair include repeated dangerous driving and incitement to commit an offense. The incitement charge addresses the deliberate recording and online broadcasting of illicit driving stunts, which authorities classify as encouraging hazardous conduct by others.

During the subsequent operational enforcement, police tracked down and confiscated the high-displacement motorcycle registered to the 35-year-old suspect. The case file compiled by traffic investigators is being forwarded directly to the competent Athens public prosecutor for judicial review and formal indictment.
Evidence publication and road safety enforcement
Following the identification of the two individuals, the Hellenic Police released portions of the recorded video footage to the public. The published recordings illustrate the specific violations cited in the case file, including the wheelies performed at speed and the continuous double-line infringements. The agency noted that social media monitoring remains an active component of traffic enforcement operations targeting organized street racing and stunt driving in urban areas.
