Shakira's assistant crawls behind her during live TV interview, then the singer teases a blockbuster Madrid residency
Shakira's video call with David Broncano's La Revuelta was upstaged when her assistant Diana crept behind her on all fours, sparking laughter in the studio and a viral moment.
The long-awaited return
On the evening of 8 July 2026, Shakira finally connected live with David Broncano's La Revuelta on TVE, nearly two years after she promised to appear on the prime-time talk show. Despite technical glitches, the Colombian singer joined by video call from the United States (reports named both Baltimore and Boston). The conversation was intended to promote her latest projects, but an off-screen mishap quickly overshadowed the planned agenda.
An unexpected guest
Midway through the interview, Shakira had to terminate an incoming call. As she did, viewers at home saw a woman crawling on hands and knees behind the singer. The figure reappeared moments later, moving in the opposite direction. Studio guests and the host reacted with visible surprise. "What's going on?" asked Broncano before encouraging Shakira to invite the person onto the screen.
What's going on?
Shakira then clarified that the creeper was her assistant, Diana, who had tried to answer the phone without disturbing the broadcast. "It's my assistant, who was trying to hang up the call. I found her walking crouched down," the singer explained. Diana eventually stood up and introduced herself, drawing appreciative laughter from the La Revuelta panel. Broncano praised her professionalism, noting the assistant's assumption that she could stay hidden simply by staying low.
It's my assistant, who was trying to hang up the call. I found her walking crouched down.
Summer of music: World Cup and Madrid
Shakira used the interview to discuss her busy summer schedule. Her collaboration with Burna Boy, "Dai Dai", is the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. On 19 July, she will perform during the 11‑minute halftime show of the final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, alongside Madonna, BTS and Justin Bieber. After the tournament, she plans to take a break to focus on her children before launching her Madrid residency.
Pulling out all the stops
The 12‑concert Madrid run, set between September and October 2026, marks her first performances in the Spanish capital in years. Shakira made an ambitious promise to the audience. "I'm going to pull out all the stops, I'm going to make every effort possible so that it's an experience beyond the concert and they leave fulfilled," she said. She added that the production would feature guest artists and that one song, "Te dejo Madrid", might bring the venue down – a playful nod to its status as a fan favourite. Calling Madrid "one of the most incredible cities in Europe", the singer confirmed she would attend La Revuelta in person once she arrives in the city.
I'm going to pull out all the stops, I'm going to make every effort possible so that it's an experience beyond the concert and they leave fulfilled.
