Arsenal come from behind to beat Leeds 2-1 and draw level with Manchester City
Riccardo Calafiori and substitute Bruno Guimarães scored in the eight minutes after James Justin put Leeds ahead, giving Arsenal a 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium that leaves them level on points with Manchester City.
A cagey first half
Arsenal had the upper hand from the start against Leeds at the Emirates Stadium, but struggled to break down a well-organised visiting defence in the first half. The hosts managed just four shots before half-time, their lowest total in the opening 45 minutes of a Premier League match in more than five years, according to the Irish Independent. Leeds, unbeaten in the league before this match, were the more threatening side on the counter. David Raya had to make a strong save to deny Gabriel Gudmundsson on the stroke of half-time, while Arsenal's only meaningful effort came when Kai Havertz headed Noni Madueke's cross straight at James Trafford.
Leeds take the lead
Leeds came out after the interval with momentum and went ahead in the 55th minute. Gudmundsson's low cross from the left reached James Justin, who was unmarked and drove the ball past Raya. Leeds had not won a league game at Arsenal since May 2003, and the travelling supporters celebrated loudly. Arsenal's passing was sloppy in this period, and the home crowd grew increasingly tense as Daniel Farke's side kept pushing forward.

Calafiori and Guimarães turn the game
Arsenal responded seven minutes later, in the 62nd minute, when Calafiori converted from close range after Ben White's header. Mikel Arteta immediately made three changes at 63 minutes, bringing on Viktor Gyokeres for Havertz, Jurrien Timber for White and Bruno Guimarães for Myles Lewis-Skelly. Guimarães, a £75m summer addition, scored the winner in the 70th minute. Martin Odegaard threaded the ball to Declan Rice, who backheeled it to the edge of the area for Guimarães to drive into the bottom corner past Trafford. Piero Hincapie replaced Calafiori in the 82nd minute to see out the win.
What it means for the table
The result lifts Arsenal to 15 points, the same total as Manchester City, who have taken 15 points from five matches and are the only unbeaten side in the league this season. Leeds, who had two wins and three draws before this match, remain on nine points. Arsenal had lost 3-0 at Brighton before the international break, and Arteta had challenged his side to use that display as fuel against Leeds. Manchester City, who were found guilty of a series of financial breaches, travel to Liverpool on Sunday at 16:30 BST, and Arsenal's result puts pressure on them ahead of that match.
