Bucharest police detain six after axe and knife brawl between rival clans on Metalurgiei Boulevard

The confrontation

Officers from Bucharest Police Section 26 were on duty along Bulevardul Metalurgiei around 19:00 on 15 June 2026 when they heard a loud impact they initially suspected was a road accident. Arriving at the scene, they found multiple people running between buildings in a residential complex, many with visible signs of violence. The altercation was already underway.

Police intervened to restore public order, identifying and immobilising six individuals. A search of the area turned up a cap gun, an axe and a knife, all suspected of having been used in the fight. Two damaged cars were also found at the scene, believed to have been involved in the clash.

The clans

Romanian media outlets, citing police sources and the publication Știri pe surse, identified the groups as the Toboșanii and Ștoacă clans. The confrontation took place in Sector 4 of the capital, inside a residential complex off Metalurgiei Boulevard.

Collateral accident

As the brawl unfolded, a driver who noticed the altercation lost control of his vehicle and collided with a moped. Police stated the collision appeared unintentional. The moped rider was injured and transported to hospital for medical care. The driver was not named in initial reports.

Police response

Officers established a safety perimeter around the site, secured the vehicles involved and temporarily restricted traffic in the area to protect the scene and allow investigations to proceed. All six detained individuals were taken to the Section 26 police station for questioning. The investigation remains ongoing to determine the exact circumstances and any charges.

Police officers intervened promptly and identified all persons involved, with six persons being immobilised in compliance with legal provisions.
