During the night between Friday, 11 September, and Saturday, 12 September, the body of 40-year-old Mirko Frescucci was found in the dirt parking lot behind San Donato hospital in Arezzo. The location borders the Pionta park area. A passerby noticed the man lying in a pool of blood around 03:00 and immediately alerted emergency services. First responders and medical personnel arrived at the scene shortly after the call, but Frescucci was already deceased. He was found dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, without shoes.
