Amazon signs 20-year deal with Constellation Energy for 690 megawatts of Maryland nuclear power

Twenty-year nuclear power agreement
Amazon.com Inc. and Constellation Energy Corp. announced a 20-year power purchase agreement on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. The contract provides for the purchase of 690 megawatts of electricity from Constellation Energy, which is the largest nuclear operator in the United States. Energy deliveries will originate from the Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant located in Maryland. The facility contains the only operational nuclear reactors in the state of Maryland. This transaction establishes a direct commercial link between the cloud computing provider and the regional nuclear generation facility for the next two decades.
Capacity expansion and AI energy demand
The commercial structure of the agreement provides financial backing to increase output at the Calvert Cliffs site. Of the total 690 megawatts covered by the deal, 190 megawatts represents new electricity generation capacity that will be added to the facility. Strategy adjustments after scrapped campus
