Amadeus and Warner Bros. Discovery end contract two years early, leaving the Italian host's future open
Italian television host Amadeus and Warner Bros. Discovery have mutually agreed to terminate a contract that was set to run for another two seasons, the company announced on 26 June 2026.
The announcement
Warner Bros. Discovery and Amadeus issued a joint statement on the morning of 26 June confirming the consensual termination of their agreement. The contract, signed in 2024 when Amadeus left Rai, was originally a four-year deal worth a reported 10 million euros net and still had two television seasons remaining.
With Amadeus we shared an important journey, tackled with commitment, dedication and professionalism. Beyond the value of the work done together, a personal relationship remains, based on mutual esteem and respect.
Background
Amadeus joined Warner Bros. Discovery in April 2024 after a surprise exit from Rai, where he had been one of the most prominent figures in Italian television. On the Nove channel he hosted a quiz, two evening shows and new formats in prime time and access prime time slots. The collaboration lasted two years, shorter than the originally planned four.
It has been two intense years. I thank Alessandro Araimo for the esteem, which is absolutely mutual, and I wish the whole Warner Bros. Discovery group the best of luck for future projects.
What's next
With the contract now dissolved, Amadeus is free to negotiate with other broadcasters. Italian media have speculated about a possible return to Rai, where entertainer Fiorello has reportedly been a strong advocate for his comeback, though that scenario currently appears unlikely. Mediaset and La7 are also mentioned as potential destinations. Warner Bros. Discovery, for its part, said it looks ahead with confidence to new challenges and growth objectives.
