Tournament debutant Learner Tien opened the session for Team World by defeating Italy's Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 2-6, 10-7, capitalizing on 35 unforced errors from Cobolli, who narrowed an 8-4 deficit to 8-7 before Tien clinched the win. Australia's Alex de Minaur then upset Roland Garros and US Open champion Alexander Zverev 2-6, 7-6(5), 11-9. Zverev served for the match during the second set before De Minaur mounted a comeback. In the super tie-break, De Minaur recovered from an early 0-3 deficit and saved a match point at 8-9 against him to prevail 11-9, celebrating the win with Team World captain Andre Agassi.

In interviews published by the tournament during the event, Zverev, Cobolli, and Ruud were asked which player's poster they would place in their bedroom if they were ten years old, and all three named Alcaraz.
