Alba Carrillo returns to television to address lawsuits and Spanish elections
Spanish presenter Alba Carrillo answered a lawsuit by ex-husband Feliciano López, refuted claims by Omar Montes, and criticized conservative leaders during her broadcast on Ten.
Return to television and ex-husband lawsuit
Spanish television presenter Alba Carrillo returned to host 'El sótano club' on the Ten network on Monday, 5 October 2026, following a one-week absence due to health issues. During the broadcast, Carrillo addressed several disputes that emerged during her leave, beginning with legal actions initiated by her former husband, retired tennis player Feliciano López. López filed a lawsuit before the summer alleging violations of his rights to honor and privacy stemming from comments made by Carrillo since their 11-month marriage ended in May 2016. The lawsuit was admitted for judicial processing in late September 2026.
Carrillo noted that she had not yet received formal judicial notification of the lawsuit and had been advised by legal counsel to remain cautious. However, she defended her right to describe her personal experiences, citing words popularized by singer Miley Cyrus.
I did not speak badly of you, I spoke about what you did to me. If that makes you look bad, that is no longer my problem.
Feuds with Omar Montes and Beatriz Trapote
Carrillo also responded to public statements made by singer Omar Montes, who had claimed that she previously frequented specific nightclubs to seek out relationships with famous individuals. Carrillo rejected the assertions, stating that she had never visited the venues mentioned by Montes. She added that her legal team has prepared case files to pursue potential legal remedies within the statutory four-year window.
I categorically deny the insinuations he has made, and I can only tell you and your friend that my lawyers already have everything and I have four years to sue you.
The presenter similarly announced legal preparations regarding public remarks by television personality Beatriz Trapote. Carrillo referred to Trapote's husband, Víctor Janeiro, and his participation in 'Supervivientes All Stars 3', warning Trapote about potential litigation costs.
Objections to journalistic reporting
Addressing the media coverage of the legal proceedings, Carrillo criticized journalist Paloma García-Pelayo, who first reported the admission of López's lawsuit on the television show 'Y ahora Sonsoles'. Carrillo questioned why details of judicial filings were leaked to reporters before reaching the defendant. She argued that formal court proceedings should remain confidential until served rather than disclosed through media outlets.
Carrillo further stated that García-Pelayo's brother, Álvaro, had recently met for a meal with López, suggesting personal connections influenced the timing and nature of the public reporting. Carrillo confirmed that while García-Pelayo had attempted to contact her before the broadcast, she chose not to respond.
Commentary on November general elections
Beyond personal and legal controversies, Carrillo dedicated a segment of the broadcast to the Spanish early general elections scheduled for 29 November 2026. She criticized Madrid regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso for reviving the campaign slogan "communism or freedom" and warned against frightening voters of Latin American descent regarding left-wing political platforms.
Carrillo also challenged rhetoric concerning mail-in voting integrity and directed remarks toward People's Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, stating that left-wing voters have an equal constitutional right to participate in the democratic process.
