An interview in Buenos Aires

Aitana Ocaña spoke on the Argentine program Nadie Dice Nada, broadcast by Luzu TV, during her Cuarto Azul World Tour stop in Buenos Aires, where she played three concerts at the Movistar Arena this October. The conversation began with her career and the single Superestrella, before a question about whether she was jealous turned it toward her relationship with the YouTuber Daniel Alonso, known as Plex. She said she was not jealous with him, and called him the best in the whole world.

“Before I was a bit jealous, but with Dani I'm not, because it gives me so much peace of mind. He's the best in the whole world.”

She recalled that on her last visit to Argentina she had no boyfriend and felt very sad, and said she now feels the opposite. Panelists raised the topic of open relationships, and she said she had never tried one.

How they met

Aitana said she had been asked to invite influencers to the premiere of her Netflix documentary Metamorfosis, and that the only ones she knew were Ibai and TheGrefg. She had followed Plex on social media because she found him very good-looking, and she said meeting him in person left her impressed by how tall and handsome he was. After the premiere she invited him to a party, but he declined because he was due to set off on a trip around the world the next day. Afterwards she told a friend she liked him, and kept thinking about him.

That night, after a few drinks, she wrote to him at 3 a.m. and passed him her number, and La Vanguardia reported she sent it through Instagram. Aitana described his reply as fairly neutral. Daily messages followed, according to La Vanguardia, even though Plex was travelling around the planet.

“I wrote to him at 3 in the morning, me with two drinks too many.”

The song Superestrella also came up, and she said she wrote it before knowing Plex, although his friends later asked whether it was for him. El País reported that her phone notes date the idea for the song to December 2024.

Trip, timeline and rumours

Plex had planned a three-month trip, which made a second meeting difficult, but they kept messaging until Aitana mentioned professional commitments in Japan. She said that two days later he told her he would pass through there, and that he had already bought tickets to go to Japan. Their first date took place in Japan, where he looked after her, La Vanguardia reported. After that they met in the Dominican Republic, and their third date was in New York.

The start date varies by outlet: La Razón puts the beginning of the relationship in mid-March 2025, while El País says spring 2025 and says the couple confirmed it with photos on social media that summer. La Vanguardia noted earlier rumours of a breakup. The key dates reported so far are set out below.

Marriage and family

On the future, Aitana clarified that she is not getting married and that nobody has proposed to her. She said she would like to marry, have children and 'everything', and called herself the typical person for that. La Razón reported that she still considers it early for such a step. She also described Plex as her family.

“It would make me very happy to get married, have children and everything. I'm the typical person for that.”
