Las Fierbinți actor Toma Cuzin detained after crash while driving on suspended licence
Romanian actor Toma Cuzin, who plays Firicel in Las Fierbinți, was detained for 24 hours after a car accident in Teleorman County. Police say he was driving on a suspended licence and that a DrugTest came back positive, while the breathalyser read zero.
The accident
Toma Cuzin, the actor who plays Firicel in the Romanian series Las Fierbinți, was involved in a road accident in Peretu, Teleorman County, on 12 October 2026 at around 18:45. Teleorman police (IPJ Teleorman) said the 49-year-old was driving a car from Alexandria towards Roșiori de Vede when he did not keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of him and collided with it. According to the police statement, the collision caused material damage only. The police were first alerted to the crash, and on arriving at the scene they identified the actor as the driver. He was then taken to hospital so that biological samples could be taken.

Licence and tests
Checks in police databases showed that Cuzin was not entitled to drive, because his licence had been suspended. Mediafax reports that the suspension dates from 22 May 2025. The breathalyser test returned zero, police said. The DrugTest device, however, returned a positive result, and Digi24 and G4Media, citing sources, reported that the test indicated banned substances. Mediafax reports that the samples were sent to a laboratory and that results from forensic medicine are awaited. The police statement says only that the driver was taken to a medical facility for biological samples to be taken, as the law requires.
Detention and criminal case
Police ordered his detention for 24 hours after gathering the evidence, according to the police statement. A criminal case was opened for driving a vehicle while the right to drive is suspended. The investigation continues under the coordination of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Roșiori de Vede Court, police said. Digi24 reports that Cuzin is to be brought before a court, which will decide what measures are taken against him. G4Media, citing judicial sources, reported the detention on 13 October 2026.
Earlier traffic stops
Digi24 and Article sources in the same reporting state that Cuzin had been stopped by police in traffic on an earlier occasion and tested positive for banned substances then. The sources do not give a date for that earlier stop. The 49-year-old actor's name appears in these reports only in connection with the current case and that earlier check.
What comes next
The 24-hour detention means a court will decide on further measures against Cuzin. Laboratory results on the biological samples are still pending. The lab results will show whether the samples confirm the DrugTest result, and the prosecutor will continue the criminal investigation into driving with a suspended licence.
