
Bus and car collide on DW 848 near Kraśnik, 11 injured and 10 hospitalized
A scheduled bus traveling from Kraśnik to Lublin collided with a Skoda passenger car at the DW 848 and DW 842 intersection on 8 August, injuring 11 people including 2 children. 10 were hospitalized, none in life-threatening condition.
Collision on DW 848
On Saturday, 8 August 2026, around 7:30 AM, a scheduled bus traveling from Kraśnik to Lublin collided with a passenger car at the intersection of provincial road DW 848 and DW 842 in Pułankowice, near Kraśnik in Lublin Voivodeship. Some sources identified the location as Rudnik Kolonia in the municipality of Wilkołaz, also within Kraśnik County. According to preliminary police findings, the driver of the Skoda passenger car failed to yield right of way to the bus, which was proceeding correctly toward Lublin. The impact left the bus on its side and the road completely impassable. The DW 848 was formerly designated as national road 19.
15 people were involved in the crash, according to the initial report from the Kraśnik County State Fire Service. 11 were injured: 9 passengers from the bus and 2 occupants of the car. Among the injured were 2 children. 10 people, including the 2 children, were transported to hospitals. According to preliminary information from police, none of the injured faced life-threatening conditions. 3 of the injured were transported by Lotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe (LPR) helicopters, while the remainder were taken by ambulance.

Emergency response
Five fire brigades from the Kraśnik area, three ambulances, and two LPR helicopters were dispatched to the scene. The Kraśnik County Police received the alert around 7:30 AM. Rescue operations were conducted on site, and police began documenting the scene with ongoing site inspections. The State Fire Service announced the deployment on social media, confirming that 15 people were involved and that rescue operations were underway.
Asp. Marzena Sałata, press officer of the Kraśnik County Police, provided details about the incident and the casualties.
Altogether 11 people were injured, 9 from the bus, 2 from the passenger car. 10 people were taken to hospitals, including two children.
She added that according to preliminary information, their lives were not in danger. The bus driver was tested for alcohol and found to be sober. Blood was to be taken from the car driver for testing purposes. Police were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and had not yet released further details about the cause beyond the initial finding that the car driver failed to yield.

Traffic disruption
The DW 848 was completely blocked at the accident site. Police established diversion routes and appealed to drivers to exercise particular caution and follow officers' instructions at the scene. The Kraśnik County Police issued a statement on social media.
We ask drivers to exercise caution and follow the instructions of police officers who are directing traffic to designated diversions.
As of around 10:00 AM, the spokesperson indicated the road would remain blocked for approximately two more hours, potentially until around noon. The Kraśnik County Police asked drivers to pass information about the diversions to others who might be traveling on that route. The road closure affected weekend traffic on one of the main routes in the Lublin region.
