A 45-year-old Dutch tourist disappeared in Lake Como near Menaggio around 12:30 on 25 July 2026 after jumping from a rented boat to rescue his 16-year-old son, who had gotten into difficulty. The boy was pulled to safety, but the father never resurfaced at a spot where the lake floor plunges from 25 to over 100 metres.
