France battles multiple wildfires as 60,000 evacuated; EU sends aircraft after two firefighters killed
Wildfires in southwestern France have forced the evacuation of more than 60,000 people from the Bordeaux region, as temperatures near 40°C and strong winds fan the flames. Two firefighters have died, and the EU has activated its civil protection mechanism, with Portugal, Croatia, Czechia and Slovakia sending aircraft.
