Oskar Wójcik completes move to Werder Bremen after breakthrough season at Cracovia
Oskar Wójcik, the 22-year-old Poland international, has signed a five-year contract with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen after a standout season at Cracovia.
Rapid rise from Cracovia reserves
Wójcik's career took off under coach Luka Elsner last season. After a loan at GKS Bełchatów in spring 2024 and a single Ekstraklasa appearance in March 2025, he became a starter and played 31 league matches. His performances earned him a Poland call-up from Jan Urban, and he debuted on 31 May 2026 against Ukraine.

What they said
I can't wait for the first match. I've heard so much about the fans and the atmosphere at the stadium. Moving to the Bundesliga, and especially to Werder Bremen, is a wonderful feeling. This is the right moment for me.
Oskar made huge progress and had a breakthrough season in the Polish Ekstraklasa last year. He brings many qualities as a centre-back and can immediately play an important role for us.
Polish contingent in Bremen
Wójcik is the second Pole signed by Werder this window, following midfielder Dariusz Stalmach from FC Magdeburg. Striker Dawid Kownacki is also at the club, returning from a loan at Hertha Berlin. Werder has a history of Polish players, including Sebastian Boenisch and Ludovic Obraniak.
Cracovia's financial gain
The sale ranks as Cracovia's third-highest transfer, behind Bartosz Kapustka (€5m to Leicester City) and Krzysztof Piątek (€4.5m to Genoa). The club also secured a 15% share of any future sale.
