Leeds United sign Wales attacker Harry Wilson on free transfer from Fulham
Leeds United have secured the signing of Wales international Harry Wilson on a four-year contract after the winger's deal with Fulham expired. Wilson, 29, becomes the club's first summer arrival under manager Daniel Farke.
Transfer details
Leeds United confirmed the free transfer of Harry Wilson on a four-year contract after his Fulham deal expired at the end of June. The Wales international becomes the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window, with manager Daniel Farke looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign. Wilson had spent five years at Fulham, joining initially on loan from Liverpool before a permanent move reported at £12m in 2022 (some reports date the transfer to 2021). The move makes him the latest Welsh addition to a growing contingent at Elland Road.
Player background
A product of Liverpool’s academy, Wilson made 66 appearances for the Under-23 side but only two senior outings. Loan spells at Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth, and Cardiff City preceded his switch to Fulham. In 187 appearances for the Cottagers, he registered 36 goals and 41 assists, and his best Premier League return came last season with 10 goals and 7 assists in 36 league matches, earning him the club’s Player of the Season award. Overall, he scored 11 times in 41 games across all competitions in 2025–26.
It is a massive club in the Premier League, where the club belongs, so I’m really excited to join and hope to have some exciting years together.
Welsh contingent at Leeds
Wilson joins fellow Wales internationals Ethan Ampadu, Dan James, Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow, and Charlie Crew at Leeds. Ampadu, the Leeds captain, played a key role in persuading his national team colleague to make the switch, having been in regular contact during international duty. Wilson acknowledged that hearing positive feedback from the Welsh group about the club, city, and fans made his decision easier.
I’d say Efe’s probably the biggest, I’ve been speaking to Efe a lot … he’s been on to me a lot, just like he was last summer as well.
Statistical impact
Last season’s Premier League output highlights Wilson’s creative and goalscoring threat, which Leeds will hope carries over into the new campaign.
- Goals
- 10
- Assists
- 7
Looking ahead
Wilson, who has 69 caps and 17 goals for Wales, downplays comparisons with Gareth Bale but accepts the responsibility of being a main player. Leeds open their Premier League season at home to Nottingham Forest on 22 August, and with Wales due to compete in Nations League A against Portugal, Denmark, and Norway from September, Wilson’s performances will be closely watched by club and country. Wales manager Craig Bellamy’s decision to stay in his role, after a move to Burnley collapsed, also delighted the forward, who stressed the importance of stability ahead of a home European Championship.
