Warszawa 44 Association drops OnlyFans creator Monika Laskowska from 82nd uprising campaign
The Warszawa 44 Association suspended influencer Monika Laskowska from its 82nd Warsaw Uprising commemorative campaign following public backlash over her OnlyFans activity and the inclusion of kickboxer Marcin Różalski.
Appointment of commemorative ambassadors
The Warszawa 44 Association faced widespread criticism on 20 August 2026 following its selection of ambassadors for the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. As part of the promotional campaign, the organization distributed commemorative packages and shirts featuring the Polish Underground anchor symbol and the Little Insurgent image to public figures, athletes, and internet creators. Among those selected was Monika Laskowska, a content creator active on the adult platform OnlyFans and an interviewer in freak-fight events, operating under the pseudonym MonaLisa. The association also named kickboxer Marcin Różalski as an ambassador. Różalski had previously made public statements expressing approval for Vladimir Putin, alongside past associations with individuals from neo-Nazi circles.
Political and social media reactions
The campaign triggered immediate criticism across social media platforms after users published screenshots of promotional posts featuring Laskowska in commemorative apparel. Members of parliament and political commentators addressed the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage directly regarding its honorary patronage of the project. Sebastian Meitz, an expert from the Sobieski Institute, questioned the ministry on X about the selection criteria:
Excuse me, Minister Cienkowska, did Ms. Monika Laskowska, known on the blue platform as MonaLisa, receive the title of Ambassador of Memory of the Warsaw Uprising under the culture department or perhaps national heritage? Did the ceiling happen to fall on your heads?
Other political figures expressed sharp disapproval of the initiative. Oskar Szafarowicz of Law and Justice commented on the cultural impact of the appointments:
Even the communists did not spit so vulgarly on Polish identity and our national heritage.
Institutional distancing and removal
Following the public reaction, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage stated that its honorary patronage did not involve selecting or approving participants. Ministry spokesperson Piotr Jędrzejowski issued a clarification regarding the scope of state involvement:
The Warsaw 44 Association's project Commemoration of the 82nd Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising was granted honorary patronage by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. This project is not financed or organizationally supported by the ministry. The list of campaign ambassadors was not consulted with the ministry.
Urząd m.st. Warszawy and the Warsaw Uprising Museum also distanced themselves from the association's project. Dariusz Michalak, president of the Warszawa 44 Association, confirmed that the choice of Laskowska was an independent organisational decision. On 20 August 2026, the association removed promotional materials featuring Laskowska from its Instagram account and suspended her ambassador role, while Różalski remained on the roster.
