Paz Vega issues statement after appearing on Spain's tax debtors list with 1.8 million euro debt
Actress Paz Vega released a statement Thursday after reappearing on Spain's tax agency list of large debtors with a balance exceeding 1.8 million euros, down from 2.4 million in 2019.
The Spanish Tax Agency published its annual list of large tax debtors on June 30, 2026, revealing that actress Paz Vega still owes more than 1.8 million euros. The list, which includes individuals and entities with tax debts exceeding 600,000 euros, once again featured her name alongside other well-known figures such as singer Bertín Osborne and tonadillera Isabel Pantoja.
Debt history
Vega, whose legal name is María Paz Campos Trigo, first appeared on the agency’s list in 2019 with a debt of 2.4 million euros. The latest figure, exceeding 1.8 million euros, represents a reduction of at least 600,000 euros over the intervening years. The actress, now 50 and a native of Seville, has faced repeated public scrutiny over her fiscal affairs.

Statement of intent
On July 10, Vega broke her silence with a public statement. She explained that she had engaged a new professional advisory team and focused intensely on regularizing her situation. “In recent months, I have been fully focused on finding solutions to regularize my tax situation with the Tax Authority,” she wrote. “Significant steps have been taken recently that have allowed a significant reduction of the pending debt.”
I continue working, along with my new advisors, to complete this process and to fully comply with the outstanding tax obligations, with the greatest diligence and in the shortest time possible.
She emphasized that her priority is to have her situation fully regularized and to continue cooperating to bring the process to a favorable conclusion. The statement thanked those who had respected her privacy while the matter was being resolved.
Personal challenges
The tax controversy comes at a particularly sensitive time for Vega. She is in the process of divorcing Orson Salazar, her husband of more than two decades and the father of her three children. The separation has placed her finances and personal life under intense media scrutiny. This week, she canceled an appearance, a sign of the pressure she is facing.
A recurring public list
Spain’s list of large debtors is published annually after the income tax filing deadline. This year’s edition, like others before it, drew attention to celebrities with unpaid tax obligations. While Vega’s debt has decreased, others on the list have reportedly seen their balances increase.

- 2025 list published; debt exceeds 1.8 million euros
- Issues statement confirming reduced debt and new advisory team
Paz Vega has expressed gratitude for the support received and a commitment to resolving her fiscal obligations. The timeline of her debt publicisation now stretches back seven years, but the recent statement signals a renewed push toward closure.
