Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale attack on multiple localities in the Moscow region during the night of Saturday to Sunday, 15-16 August 2026, according to the Kyiv Independent, as reported by News.ro. A fire broke out at a Wildberries warehouse in the village of Koledino, near Moscow, after the facility was struck, the monitoring channel Exilenova Plus reported. The Koledino warehouse spans over 200,000 square meters, making it the largest storage center in the Wildberries network. Photos and videos posted by Moscow residents showed a massive fire engulfing the logistics complex.

In the city of Domodedovo, the "Severnoe Domodedovo" production and logistics complex was also engulfed in flames during the attack, per the same monitoring source. In Cehov, another city in the Moscow region, attacks were reported and air defense systems were heard in operation. Neither Ukrainian nor Russian authorities had issued official comments on the strikes as of the time of reporting, and details could not be immediately verified, the Kyiv Independent noted.

Wildberries as a target

Wildberries, one of Russia's largest online retailers and described as the "Amazon of Russia," occupies an important role in the country's consumer economy. The company sells a wide range of products on its platform, including equipment with potential military applications such as drone components and bulletproof vests. In July 2026, the European Union sanctioned the banking division of Wildberries on the grounds of its financial contribution to the Russian state budget. The strikes on Wildberries logistics infrastructure may carry significance beyond the disruption of a commercial platform, given the company's dual-use product offerings and its financial links to the Russian state.

The Koledino incident is the second reported attack this week on a Wildberries logistics target. On 11 August, a company logistics center in the village of Novaia Usman, in the Voronezh region, caught fire following a series of explosions at the site, amid Ukrainian attacks. The attack was initially reported by the Telegram channel Supernova Plus and subsequently confirmed by Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces.

Escalation of deep-strike campaign

Ukraine has intensified strikes against targets inside Russian territory in recent days, with Kyiv stating it aims to reduce Moscow's capacity to sustain the war effort. On Saturday, 15 August, President Volodimir Zelenski confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck the Russian military airbase Savasleika and a key Roscosmos space and missile facility in the Samara region using domestically produced "Flamingo" missiles.

In the night of 14 August, Ukraine hit one of Russia's largest Baltic Sea ports, damaging two factories and causing a fire, according to Ukraine's General Staff. Ukraine regularly strikes military infrastructure deep inside Russia and in occupied territories as part of its broader effort to degrade Russia's war-fighting capacity.
