Trinity Tatum and Bryce Alakai Dettloff win Love Island USA season 8, taking the $100,000 prize
Trinity Tatum and Bryce Alakai Dettloff took the $100,000 prize on Peacock's Love Island USA season 8 finale, streamed Sunday night.
The final four
Four couples reached the finale night on July 12: Trinity Tatum and Bryce Alakai Dettloff, Aniya Harvey and Carl Lee Schmidt, Melanie Moreno and Sincere Rhea, and Kayda Bosse and Zach Georgiou. Mackenzie "Kenzie" Annis and Dylan Wrona, along with Tierra "Titi" Davis and Kuman "KC" Chandler, had been dumped from the island earlier after failing to get enough viewer votes. The remaining couples went on their final dates before host Ariana Madix entered the villa to deliver the results.
Who won
Madix announced that viewers had given the most votes to Trinity and Bryce, crowning them the winners of season 8. The pair secured the $100,000 cash prize, which is split between the winning couple. Bryce was lifted into the air by fellow male contestants as the result was revealed (Vulture compared the scene to a moment from a classic Simpsons episode). The Hollywood Reporter described their pairing as a slow burn that started more as friendship before deepening, particularly after the Casa Amor relationship test midway through the season. They eventually made their relationship official as girlfriend and boyfriend.
These Islanders are never together. They don't meet. There's no interaction where they can chemistry test the way you would on a scripted show. So you don't know until they're all in a room together what kind of sparks are going to fly.
The rest of the placings
Aniya and Carl placed second. Their storyline, per Vulture, involved Carl, a Casa Amor newcomer, winning over Aniya after her experience with KC. Melanie and Sincere came third. Kayda and Zach ended in fourth place. Zach managed a parting shot at Charlie before his screen time concluded, and the finish gave him a one-up on his brother, according to Vulture.
What the season delivered
Beyond the winning couple, season 8 produced considerable drama. The Hollywood Reporter noted Sincere's ongoing lies, Melanie and Kenzie's explorations, KC's remarks about Aniya, and Zach's commitment struggles with Kayda. The season also drew its largest premiere numbers yet, topping the Nielsen streaming charts in its first week. Madix credited the casting team for assembling a group whose chemistry could not be predicted before they all entered the villa together.
What comes next
Peacock announced two next steps during the finale. A season 8 reunion is set for Monday, August 31, at 9 p.m. ET, with Andy Cohen and Ariana Madix returning as co-hosts. The network also renewed the spinoff Love Island: Beyond the Villa for a third season, which is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
