Trepczyński climbs to second and Wasiewicz takes tenth at U23 iQFOiL World Championships
Polish windsurfers opened the U23 iQFOiL World Championships with Trepczyński climbing from sixth to second place and Wasiewicz ranking tenth ahead of the final series.
Polish windsurfers recorded a strong opening at the U23 iQFOiL World Championships, with Trepczyński advancing from sixth to second position and Wasiewicz securing tenth place in the standings.
Trepczyński credited his progress during the day to consistent sailing and strong starts during the slalom races.
Consistent sailing on my part allowed me to advance from sixth to second position, with which I am very satisfied. The key to success today was definitely the starts. In slalom races, I would say that is 80% of a successful race. In such a strong fleet as here, every second of delay means we can lose a lot.
The competition moves into the final series, which will be split into gold and silver fleets. Trepczyński noted his position heading into the next stage of racing.
Starting tomorrow I begin racing in the final series across two fleets, gold and silver. It is all the more satisfying that I will be able to defend my position and fight for first place from second position.
