Trains return to Łomża after 33 years as Poland launches summer timetable with record 560 daily connections
Poland's summer rail timetable takes effect on 14 June, restoring passenger services to Łomża after a 33‑year gap and introducing a record 560 daily PKP Intercity connections, with new Pendolino routes to Baltic resorts and a direct Kraków–Prague service.
Return to Łomża after 33 years
The most significant change in the new timetable is the restoration of regular rail services to Łomża, a city of about 60,000 in north‑eastern Poland that has been without passenger trains since 1993. From 14 June, Polregio will operate four pairs of trains on weekdays and three on weekends between Białystok and Łomża, with two services extended to Ostrołęka for onward connections to Olsztyn. The journey to Białystok will take 1 hour and 20 minutes, and Olsztyn 2 hours and 20 minutes. PKP Intercity also adds two year‑round trains, IC Omulew and IC Orzyc, on the Białystok–Olsztyn route serving Łomża. A direct Warsaw–Łomża link is planned for 2027, with a projected travel time of 1 hour and 50 minutes, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure.
After more than 20 years, regular passenger traffic also returns to railway line No. 214 between Somonino and Kartuzy, an 8‑kilometre segment rebuilt as part of the modernisation of the Bydgoszcz–Tricity corridor.
Record 560 daily connections
This summer passengers have a record offer at their disposal – as many as 560 connections every day, 46 more than during last year’s holidays.
The operator says it has increased frequencies to the most popular tourist destinations by the sea, in the Masuria lake district, and in the mountains. Many existing routes have been extended, and seasonal trains will serve holiday resorts. The summer timetable runs until 29 August 2026.
New Pendolino routes to the Baltic coast
For the first time, a Pendolino high‑speed train will serve Ustka. The service is an extension of the existing Gdynia route, giving travellers from Bielsko‑Biała and Katowice a direct connection to the coastal town. The train will arrive in Ustka at 20:21 and depart at 07:23, with the Warsaw–Ustka leg taking 4 hours and 51 minutes.
A second pair of Pendolino services is added to Kołobrzeg. The extra train will set off from Zakopane at 08:31 and reach Kołobrzeg at 19:27, stopping at Kraków, Warsaw, Gdańsk and Gdynia; the return departs at 08:47 and arrives in Kraków at 17:32. The existing Warsaw–Szczecin Pendolino will be extended to Świnoujście from 26 June, leaving Warsaw at 16:00 and arriving at 21:28, with a morning return.
Other new Baltic services include the Sunday EIC Morena (Gdynia–Warsaw), the weekend IC Promenada (Wrocław–Kołobrzeg via Poznań), EIC Posejdon (Kraków–Kołobrzeg, which last summer started in Warsaw), and the fast EIC Neptun (Kraków–Hel via Warsaw).
International and regional expansions
We have increased the number of connections to the most popular tourist destinations by the sea, in Masuria and in the mountains. Seasonal trains have also entered service, and many routes have been extended to make reaching holiday destinations even easier.
The international Adriatic Express returns on 26 June. It will run six times a week to Rijeka, Croatia (compared with four last year), travelling through Czechia, Austria and Slovenia. A new through carriage to Koper, Slovenia, will be detached in Ljubljana.
Kraków gains a fourth daily pair of trains to Prague with the new IC Olza, which stops at Oświęcim, Czechowice‑Dziedzice and Bohumín. On the regional side, Polregio resumes Baltic connections from Toruń and Zielona Góra, while seasonal weekend trains link Białystok with Waliły (until 27 September) and Suwałki (until 30 August).
