She had booked the ride through a platform, and the driver, Panagiotis, had no initial indication of the emergency. Within the first minutes of the trip, he noticed her severe distress and realized she was about to give birth. The woman did not speak Greek, making communication difficult, but Panagiotis understood the urgency and immediately called the Hellenic Police, requesting an urgent escort to the Alexandra maternity hospital. He explained the situation and stressed that every minute counted.
A driver's composure under pressure
The scene inside the taxi was chaotic. The woman's friend was panicking, and a small child was also in the vehicle, adding to the tension. Panagiotis, who has worked as a taxi driver since 1993, focused on staying calm. Before the police could arrive, the birth began in the back seat.
