Sparta Rotterdam played to a 3-3 draw against FC Utrecht on Saturday evening at Het Kasteel. The goals for the home side were scored by Marvin Young, Milan Zonneveld, and Nick Verschuren.
FC Utrecht controlled early possession, though Sparta had an early chance when Shunsuke Mito won the ball from Davy van den Berg and set up starting debutant Robin van Cruijsen, who missed just wide of the left post. FC Utrecht opened the scoring when Matisse Didden headed in a corner kick from Yoann Cathline. Sparta drew level shortly before the break when Ayoni Santos passed to Bas Kuipers, whose cross was headed in by right-back Marvin Young.
FC Utrecht regained the lead less than a minute after halftime when Artem Stepanov converted a cross from Niklas Vesterlund. Sparta leveled again through substitute Milan Zonneveld, who ran onto a pass from Mito in the 67th minute, with Nick Verschuren also scoring as the teams split the points.
